The Benefits of Massage

Until recently massage was thought of as an indulgent luxury only done on birthdays and anniversaries. However more and more people are finding that regular sessions of massage supports their physical and emotional well-being and that the power of touch is powerful indeed. Besides improving the way you feel from day to day, massage systemically improves the circulation of blood and lymph to provide nourishment to the body and aid in the elimination of toxins. Many clients of regular massage experience improved sleep and a release of emotional tension, which enables them to better endure the stresses of life. Sure massage can still be luxurious and indulgent if you like but more often these days clients are viewing massage as a regular part of any good self care routine.

Acussage offers a variety of different styles of massage to suit your needs and preferences..

Tui Na Massage - the predecessor of acupressure massage typically done with the client clothed and without oil. This invigorating technique moves stagnant energy and lifts the mood.

Asian Deep Tissue- Those who like a strong, deep feeling to their massage will enjoy the dispersing effect of Asian deep tissue techniques called “dredging the channels”. This modality changes deeply held patterns of tension in the body and breaks up adhesions from old injuries, chronic tension and overuse and restores functioning.

Cupping Massage – Add this therapy to any session when stubborn knots and muscular spasms will only yield to a strong technique. This technique uses heated cups to create a vacuum effect to restore the flow of blood to tight tissues.

Chi Nei Tsang – Based on the 5 elements in Chinese medicine this abdominal massage releases the negative effects of stress and excesses of emotions on the body and harmonizes digestive functioning.

Swedish Massage – A favorite of many, this classic modality uses long soothing oiled strokes and can be of light or deep pressure according to the client’s preference. It is the popular choice for nearly any stress related complaint and is typified by a nurturing touch. Swedish Massage gently but powerfully moves blood and lymph and aids in the elimination of toxins.

On Site Chair Massage – Short sessions done in a special massage chair. For special events and office employee appreciation. For groups of 8 or more

Moxa Therapy – An alternative to needles when a deep effect on the acupoints is needed. Special herbs are used to warm the points; excellent for fatigue, exhaustion and many types of joint pain especially when exacerbated by cold.
